They left.
You don't have to.

A driver who flees the scene didn't escape your case. New Jersey's UM coverage is built for exactly this situation, and the investigative tools available today — license plate readers, business cameras, traffic-cam analytics — make identifying the driver far more achievable than people realize.

The Brief

Uninsured Motorist coverage
is your case.

Under N.J.S.A. 17:28-1.1, every New Jersey auto policy must include UM coverage. UM steps in when the at-fault driver is uninsured or — critically — when the driver is unknown (a hit-and-run). The carrier is your own; the defense is no less aggressive.

We've recovered policy-limit settlements on UM claims after using license-plate-reader hits, business cameras, and witness work to identify the fleeing driver. Even when identification fails, the UM claim itself remains.

The Levers

Notice and proof
the two UM levers.

UM carriers can deny a claim if you fail to give prompt notice or fail to corroborate the fact of contact (for true phantom-vehicle claims). We document the report and the witnesses immediately and head off the carrier's two default defenses.

Stacking UM and finding the driver.

Even when the driver is identified, the UM claim is often the more efficient path to recovery. When the driver is uninsured personally, you may be able to stack policies in the household. We map every layer.

NJ · FAQ

What clients ask first.

I never identified the driver. Is there still a case?

Yes — your UM coverage exists for exactly that scenario. We file the UM claim, defend it through carrier-side scrutiny, and pursue identification in parallel.

How much does it cost to hire your firm?

Nothing up front. We work on a contingency fee — you owe us no attorney's fee unless we recover money for you. Costs are advanced by the firm and only reimbursed out of a recovery. The first conversation is free and confidential.

How long do I have to file a claim in New Jersey?

Most personal-injury claims in New Jersey carry a two-year statute of limitations under N.J.S.A. 2A:14-2, running from the date of injury. Claims against a public entity (city, county, NJ Transit, the State) require a Notice of Tort Claim within 90 days under the New Jersey Tort Claims Act. Wrongful-death actions also have a two-year window. Call as early as possible — evidence does not wait.
